Tonight I Pray
Tonight I Sleep
If God wills
I’ll see you soon.

— me

A poem written while work duties kept me from spending a night with a dying person.   The emotion of wondering if one will have to spend the night awake at a bedside, or if one can sleep are often complex.   One can be glad to be able to sleep but distraught at the notion that one is relieved one can sleep solely because the person has died and the need is no longer there.

May God have mercy on us all.
